The gov't is so jacked up I thought it would be fun to host my own election, but more on that in a second… You may have noticed I went quiet after ASCRS. Maybe you didn't. Either way, I owe you an explanation. We've been deep in the weeds - big updates to our coaching program, some really exciting client projects. Plus two massive collabs with people I genuinely respect in this industry. It's been a LOT. And I love it. But that's no excuse to ghost your inbox. So I'm back, baby. Let's get after it. So, 2 things for you today. THING ONE: A gift. Coincidentally also coming from ASCRS. My bald brother from another mother Guido Piquet invited me to come on The Ophthalmology Experience podcast and talk about non-salesy sales, the state of the refractive market, building a killer culture / team, and catch up on life in general. So here’s a recording of him interviewing me at ASCRS on the podcast. Full transparency, Guido did a stealthy job of pulling a lot more out of me than I was planning on sharing. This was not my finest moment at keeping secrets. So yeah go give that a listen. THING TWO: Back to my election idea: We’re still pretty fresh off tax day. And that’s the day where the government takes 40% of your money, launders it into fraudulent activities and organizations, STILL drives the country into massive debt… and somehow blames it all on you. I, Troy Cole, cannot fix ANY of that. BUT I can help you solve some of the problems standing between you and more practice profits, which at least helps you to outrun the government-sanctioned pillaging of the fruits of your labor. But where do we start? This gets into the voting part. I want to know what's giving you the biggest headache right now, so I'm running my own election. No ballot harvesting, no hanging chads, no drama. Just click a link below and your vote actually counts. Whatever gets the most votes wins. I'll spend the next few weeks going deep on that topic just for you.
- Troy “Man of the People” Cole PS - I do love this country. I just don't love what they do with my money on tax day. |
“Hey do you have a good script for X?” A surgeon asked me during a discovery call last week. And the short answer is yes, BUT… Let’s talk about why you can’t just throw a script at your team and automatically book more surgery prospects. A script by nature is static. And our patient interactions… they’re dynamic. Your patients have different personality styles. You have some who are direct and quick, others who are more social, and still others who are analytical. So to say, “here’s the...
We’re a board game kinda family. Although as everyone’s getting older, it’s getting tougher for me to dominate. When I’m not getting waxed at Chess by my sons, I’m getting beat at Sleeping Queens by my youngest daughter. (That said, my extensive writing experience makes me an ace Scrabble player. And I’ve been known to have some epic rolls in Farkle.) But one of our all-time favorite games (and one we can all play together now that the kids are 13, 11, 9 and 7) is Apples to Apples. We love...
There are two main types of people when it comes to the idea of “Sales” in an elective medical practice and honestly, watching them go at it never gets old. On one side, you've got the "Sales Rules" crew. These folks treat selling like oxygen. They track their close rates, they study objection handling like it's a sport, and they genuinely believe that a well-placed question can change a patient's life. For them, selling isn't just okay, it's the whole game. On the other side, you've got the...
